Bike Windsor Essex is pleased to sponsor our 2018 series of casual bicycle tours to explore and discover your city and region. These 1 – 1 1/2 hour rides (10 – 15 kms) are led by experienced ride leaders. Our 2018 rides will kick off on April 22 for our annual Earth Day Ride to Malden Park.
These are ‘special’ rides only, if a Saturday is not listed assume it’s a ‘regularly scheduled downtown slow ride’.
Sunday, April 22 – Our ride series kicks off with our annual ride to Earth Day at Malden Park. Leaving from the Bike Kitchen. Our volunteers will be staying to enjoy Earth Day, riders can hang out with volunteers at our info booth or plan to continue their tour on their own.
Saturday, April 28 – First Saturday morning Downtown Slow Ride from the Bike Hub.
Saturday, May 26 – Downtown to the Herb Gray Parkway. Leaving from the Bike Kitchen. This is an MS Grand Bend to London Training Ride and will be faster than usual but no one will be left behind.
Saturday, June 9 – Downtown to the Herb Gray Parkway. Leaving from the Bike Kitchen. This is an MS Grand Bend to London Training Ride and will be faster than usual but no one will be left behind.
A couple friendly reminders: Riders agree to ride at their own risk and are requested to sign the waiver before participating. These are all ages rides, we will go as fast as the slowest rider. Helmets are mandatory for youth under 18. Riders are photographed for promotional purposes. Bring water and wear sunscreen.
Routes are carefully planned and may be subject to change should situations arise. Pay attention to the Ride Leader and Sweeper, obey the rules of road and have fun!
We Need Ride Leaders: Our Ride Leaders and Sweepers are Bike Windsor Essex volunteers and qualified cyclists. If you are interested in leading or supporting a ride – or several rides – let us know at email@example.com. Thanks to a generous Ontario Sport and Recreation Fund grant, we can offer a stipend for those who qualify.
