More Events For Bike Lovers!

Bike To Work Week is over and the bridge has been defeated by 180 cyclists from Windsor and Detroit, but the events celebrating Bike Month continue! This weekend, there are two great tourist events happening for those of you who love to travel on two wheels.

VIA Rail’s Bike Train arrives in Windsor for the first time this Thursday evening, with excited Torontonians (and GTA-ers) ready to get on their bikes and ride the Greenway Trail out to Point Pelee. Friday morning, there’s a welcome event scheduled at the Windsor Inn On The River (3857 Riverside Drive East). Breakfast will be served for the out-of-towners and those locals who’d like to attend. A welcome from local and provincial guest speakers will also take place. The organizers are inviting anyone interested in joining the group for a ride out to the head of the Greenway Trail (Oldcastle). Breakfast will be served at 9am, and the ride will start at 10am.If you feel like going the whole way, you can enjoy a Picnic At The Park, a dinner made of local fare at Point Pelee (hosted by windsoreats.com).

For more information on the VIA Rail Bike Train, see their website here. Hopefully we can get a bunch of Windsorites gathered to welcome the visitors!

Also this weekend is the second windsoreats.com Wine Trail Ride of the season. The route planned for this Saturday is a loop from Colchester and back, hitting up the Colchester Ridge Estate Winery, Sprucewood Shores Estate Winery and Tredki Acre Farms. You can get a package deal for a tandem bike for two ($100), a Cycle & Snore package ($175-$195) or an individual ticket for $35.

Thanks goes out to windsoreats.com and Justin Lafontaine (creator of the Bike Train) for organizing these events, and highlighting the area’s potential as a cycling tour region!
