This Saturday, October 22 from 11-4 in the parking lot of the Essex Civic Centre (360 Fairview Avenue in Essex), the Kingsville Bikesmart program will be accepting donations of new and used bikes, bike parts and tools for their program. If you have something you’d like to donate but can’t make it to the event on Saturday, contact Jenna Foley at jfoley@resourcenetwork.ca to make arrangements.
The new Bikesmart program is being run by the Youth & Family Resource Network of Essex County, and with grant money from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, the program will provide job skills, leadership training and volunteer opportunities for youth through the operation of a full service repair shop. Donated and unwanted bicycles from the community will be reused and refurbished and made available for men, women and children as affordable transportation options.
